Asbestos in Chesham
Chesham is a Chilterns market town at the end of the Metropolitan line, combining an old centre of cottages and former brush and boot works with substantial 1930s to 1970s estate expansion up the valley sides at Hivings, Newtown and Botley. That postwar growth is where most asbestos sits: cement garage roofs and coal-store sheets, cement soffits and rainwater goods, AIB airing cupboards and boiler linings, and Artex ceilings across the later stock. The town's older industrial and workshop buildings and the light industrial units off Asheridge Road add corrugated cement roofs and sheeted cladding on a larger scale. Rural properties in the surrounding hamlets often have farm buildings sheeted in the same material.
Whatever you’re dealing with, we make Chesham properties safe the right way — identified, proven in the lab, and either contained or removed with paperwork that satisfies lenders, buyers and the HSE.

Asbestos Testing & Air Monitoring in Chesham: FAQs
How much to remove an asbestos garage roof in Chesham?
A typical single asbestos cement garage roof is £380 to £800, driven by size, condition and how easily a vehicle can get to it, which matters on the steeper streets above the town centre. That price covers controlled removal, double-wrapping, consignment paperwork and disposal at a licensed site. Asbestos cement is non-licensed work so it does not need HSE notification, but it must still be removed under CAR 2012 controls and never broken up or taken to the household tip.
Do you cover Chesham from Uxbridge, and does that add to the cost?
Yes, Chesham is comfortably inside our normal working area from Uxbridge and there is no separate travel surcharge for standard work. A single sample is £50 to £80 and a management survey of a small commercial premises starts around £200 to £300 on the same basis as our Greater London pricing. For larger rural or agricultural sheeting jobs we price by area after seeing photographs and dimensions.
How quickly can I find out if a material contains asbestos?
Standard bulk sample analysis is returned within 24 hours, and same-day analysis is available for urgent cases. You receive a UKAS-accredited certificate stating the fibre type, or confirming none is present.
What is an air test for and when do I need one?
Air testing measures the concentration of asbestos fibres in the air. It is used for reassurance after disturbance, for background monitoring, and for the mandatory clearance test after licensed removal before a space can be reoccupied.
